As you can see from the photos, it was a really interesting meeting with the Farming Minister on Monday - quite lively! After a short introduction by Nick Bannister, our President, Mark Spencer MP gave a quick speech and then opened the floor to questions such as: the falling price of milk; Italian eggs sold in Lidl (apparently they have been kept in storage for some while - memo to self, avoid and buy British, local and always free range!); basic payment scheme versus the new replacement.
Afterwards Mark, himself a farmer, then spent quite some time chatting to our local farmers, which was super.
Naturally, an ample buffet, plenty to drink and a good raffle rounded off the evening!
Thank you to all of you who came and supported this event and for Mark Spencer MP for being such a great speaker.
