S&RCA mourns the Loss of Bernard Bateman MBE. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Linda and the family at this most difficult time. Bernard was an Honorary President for our Association having played such an important part of Skipton & Ripon for so long. Bernard was a dedicated public servant and friend to many and he will be greatly missed. Bernard was a Conservative Councillor in the Wathvale ward of Harrogate Borough Council until 2022 and a former Mayor of both Harrogate and Ripon. Bernard achieved much throughout his life as he was a successful businessman where he was awarded an MBE in 1989 for services to industry and he was also made an Honorary Alderman by North Yorkshire County Council. Bernard also supported many charities including the Army Benevolent Fund which was dear to his heart.

Bernard leaves behind a legacy which I am sure you will all agree will not be forgotten.
